I've just moved jobs from mortgages to another financial area, will be starting new job on Tuesday (Count my blessings). Went for a couple of interviews over the last couple of weeks and was told that there are literally hundreds of people applying for those positions.

It is really that difficulty to find a financial job out there at the moment?

Yep it is. My company (and I believe many others) have a recruitment freeze on until at least feb we cannot replace anyone leaving so fingers crossed no one does. Add to that the fact that a lot of people from hibernian are jumping ship it becomes a bit tough in the financial job market, that said if you have a lot of experience it shouldn't be really hard to get a new job. Companies can now be a lot pickier about who they hire.

Not only is it tough to find one but its probably going to be tough to keep one in this climate

I was speaking to someone last week in one of the banks. Last year they advertised a role and no one applied. This year they advertised a similer role and have got 40 applicants to date

I was also speaking to a rep from an employement agency who came in to see me today. She said the quality and number of applicants they are getting these days, even for temp roles, has risen greatly in the last 6 months.

I think the whole fund admin & fund management is still pretty active at the moment but no-where near where it was 12 months ago, Henderson moving to dublin will be a big boost. lots of smaller fund admin companies springing up around Dublin in the last 6-12 months.
