To all you knowledgeable people out there, can you be of any assistance.

My daughter, 22, who did a degree in Dental Technology and finished last June, now wants to go back to college and do National School Teaching.
She has been working for the past 8 months and has just given up to go back and re do her leaving certificate (she needs honours irish)in 2009,
She initally thought she only had to do the irish, but as it is a 'level 7 degree' rather than an 8, she has to do the full course in teacher training college instead of 18 months which she thought was the time frame. She also has to try and achieve about 450 at least.
Having talked to the careers guidance teacher in her old school, she found out the above details and was also told about going to the UK to do the teaching course in lesser time.
Has anyone any information regarding any of the above and does anyone know if there is any financial assistance available to her. It will be quiet a challenge to her to do the study and exam in 9 months, so to try and keep a job also will be too much for her. She thought she would be able to get a 'return to education' allowance, but when we enquired we found out that you had to be unemployed for at least 6 months previous....
It seems if you are working and wish to better your prospects, you do it at your own expense, but if you are being supported by the state they will
give you everything...... or at least something.....

But your daughter has already been educated to degree level by the State, whereas most people getting BTEA are on their first chance at 3rd or even 2nd level.
