Hi there,
Am in the process of losing my job, trying to figure out what is the situation with my final day.
They company give me a 1. Pension statement, 2. p45 and what else?
Are the company to give me a reference?

Re: Final day at work

Hi tob...

  • Ask for a reference...and make sure they give you a good one,
  • If the company you work for are still in business, make sure you get telephone numbers for people that you new possible employers can ring for a verbal reference.
  • Any outstanding shares (if you even got any).
  • Did you work a week in hand, you may be owed wages.
  • Any unpaid holiday balance e.g. holiday time that you have worked up but have not taken,
  • AVC’s(pension), if you have being paying into them.
thats about all I think off, was made redundant twice over the last 12 years... I am sure more ppl will respond with other comments.

In most cases, employers won't have all these documents ready.

You should ask your employer now for a reference. However, they are not under any obligation to provide you with one.

If you are getting statutory redundancy, they should give you a cheque on the day you leave together with a form showing how it is calculated.

And, of course, your final salary. But in many cases, people are paid up to the end of the month, so they might not pay you until then.

good luck.
my ex company wouldnt give anyone a reference.. so in that case ask your manager or ex manager to be a referee

Re: Final day at work

I think it's really bad form not to have someone’s paperwork ready for them the day they are finishing work. Being let go is stressful enough, the least an employer can do is get their act together to have a P45 and a final payment ready.
