When I got bathroom re-decorated I fiited a snazzy unit that has a mirror etc with a pull switch to turn on light but it does not have a shaver socket, I put a smaller uint in an ensuite, same firm and that came with a shaver socket.

Is there any workround for this that will look tidy. I think I can fit a bog standard shaver socket surface mounted type and use that but was wondering if there was a better option.

i cant think of a workaround. Its not as if you can easily modify the existing unit. Shavers sockets require a transformer for safety reasons to restrict the maximum watts which the socket can give out to usually around 20 watts (because bathrooms are wet places where electrocutions could happen).

You could install something like this item from ebay, looks good, you might source a cheaper one somewhere.
