Apologies if this has been asked before. I was planning to spend a few months in USA next year and was wondering how long you must leave the States at the end of three months before re-entering, i.e. so I dont have to bother applying for a six month holiday visa. MAny thanks in advance for any help would be really appreciated,
You could head into Canada or Mexico or somewhere like Bermuda for a couple of days and then get a new VWP 90 days on return; however if on a land crossing Immigration will just allow you to use your old green slip.
I know you can get away with this in different countries but it would be a bit risky in the USA. Immigration have all your data on the computer and they will know when you were last in the country and will not be long working out what you are up to; if they have reasonable grounds to think that you will try to stay in the USA they can refuse you entry and/or deport you.
It is a clear requirement of the Visa Waiver Progam that you don't stay longer than 90 days and they also state that you can't extend it. On the other hand you may be able to extend a visa
