ferry to France

Hi there,
My wife and I have to go to a wedding in France just off the coast of Brittany. I am just wondering would it be better to get the ferry over and drive to our destination or get a flight to Paris and hire a car.
what would you recommend?

Waterford aiport fly direct to Lorient.
Ryanair via the uk to ST Malo
Therefore the drive would be much shorter that if you land in Paris. Flight + rental could be the cheapest option depending on the period

but it was you, I would be using the ferry to go to the wedding because at least you can go mad with shopping and bring loads back home without having to worry with Baggage allowance.

The only snag with Aer Arann Waterford to Lorient is that they only fly Saturday morning. Means either doing the Paris bit with train or plane if you don't intend staying the full week.
