Howdy!
I've just signed a lease on a little allotment. It's just an open plot of bare (ish, some weeds already creeping in) plot of soil with four boundary posts marking out the boundary.
Before I get stuck in I'd like to erect a sheep wire fence to mark the boundary of my plot and to allow me to let my little mutts loose when I'm there and not risk them wandering off to visit the other plots.
The plot is 5.5 m x 16.2 m. I reckon I'll need 40 m sheep wire around 600 - 1000 mm tall, 11 fence posts around 1500 mm tall (to be able to whack them a good way down), two end posts and a little gate around the same height as the sheep wire.
Where would be best value to buy these fencing materials? Any idea of the likely costs? Apart from a sledge hammer to whack in the posts and U nails to nail the wire to the posts, are there any other tools I should be laying my hands on before starting this job? Any good tips for putting up a sheep wire fence?
