feeding bamboo

I feed the bamboo with a mixture of miracle grow in a can with rose attachment as instructed. it says pour over leaves etc

But I can only lift the can up to half the height and some spills on the ground around too. seems messy. It would be easier to just feed the soil without the rose. Would that be OK?

I use a mister spray for those hard to reach places... Watering can's FAR too heavy for that large a plant...

wouldn't they be heavy with 4 litres too. that is the amount of water it says is needed in mix

Hi Jane...

Yes, exactly like that.... But you'd just put enough into it to wet the leaves and the high branches (May have to do a refill occasionally), and put the rest onto the compost as usual.... Works for me with all of our bigger plants.... Mum and I are both wheelchair users, and standing to mist the higher leaves is a battle as it is... Anything heavier than the misting spray would be a disaster!....

So just mix as usual in your watering can... Fill your mister bottle from the can (Funnel helps!)... Then use the rest of the mixture as usual...

Awkward, and created just as big a mess as the old watering can method!...

That's the beauty of bamboo.... It appears to be very resiliant... AND it appears to thrive on neglect!...

Don't worry... When it grows as big as I hope it will, you can always hire a Cherry-Picker to water it's leaves!....
