Feather cushions and how to remove smell

I inadvertantly left some feather cusions outdoors,and they got a bit wet.
Then smelled awfull,so Ive washed them in the washing machine and they still smell.
Any ideas how to get rid of the smell?
Is it because they got wet in the first place?
Should I have put them in the washing machine?

Feather pillows and cushions can be washed but they MUST BE DRIED IN A TUMBLE DRIER. Try washing them again in the washing machine and add some fabric softener to the rinse, spin as normal and then make sure you can put them in a drier. Otherwise bring them to a dry cleaners who may be able to rejuvenate them.
