Fastbo Wall Panels (Ikea)

I'm thinking of buying these wall panels to use as kitchen backsplash and generally to improve the appearance of the strip of wall above kitchen worktops. In the brochure Ikea talk about using "rails" with these panels. On the other hand, they say that the panels are easily applied with a particular type of adhesive. Maybe I'm just thick(!) but I can't under precisely what the rails are for or how they are used. Has anybody bought and applied these panels? If so, how did you do it and are the rails compulsory. What exactly is their purpose? Thank you.

Not familiar with those panels but would image the rails are only to give a nice finish along the panels.

If you don't need the rails I wouldn't worry.. do you have a pic or link for those panels as I'm interested in splashbacks myself if I can find the right width.

The rails are designed in a way that you stick these to a wall and then insert your fastbo by sliding it into the rails (top and bottom) and the fastbo can be removed anytime you want a change and replace with another. You can also ignore the rail idea and just stick the fastbo to a wall using Tech7 or similar.

Thanks everybody. For a pic see the Ikea brochure on the internet (under "Kitchens"I think).

As a matter of interest I had been waiting for these rails to come into stock in Ikea for more than a month, checking their website regularly. No information there at all. Now they have been discontinued, according to one of their staff in the kitchen department. Glue will have to do.

from looking at their website, arent the boards meant to be reversible? so if gluing is your only option theres not much point of the two options.
