Hi all,
I am starting a work placement programme for 9 months with Fas in Cork Cit and I want to know apart from retaining my Job Seekers Benefit of €196 a week, am I entitled to get a training allowance from Fas or anything extra to support my income at all? I know my employer wont pay me so its going to be tough to live.
Anyone with knowledge of this experience before?

Afraid not,

Do I get Paid?

No. the placement is unpaid and voluntary. However, if you are already in receipt of certain social welfare payments, you may be allowed to retain your payment while on a placement.

and not to rub salt into your wounds :D Your €196 pw is reducing to €188 in January.

I think though you might find that the payment they are on about is from an employer. Im aware of that but fas do provide training/meal allowances so I think I should be entitled to them.
