I would really appreciate advice from any decorators out there. We are renovating a period house. We love the farrow and ball range but it is incredibly expensive. The rooms are big and there is a lot of wall space to be painted. Some people seem to mix Dulux paints to try and get similar colours to the F&B range. Does this work? I would not expect the colour mixes to be identical but can you get pretty close? the Is there any other brand you would recommend which do nice period type colours and covers well? many thanks.

If you are in Dublin go to MRCB near CHristchurch.

Tell them which F&B painy you like - they stock them and ask them to match it for you.

I don't see why you couldn't get the colour made in Dulux paint. Another option might be to try [broken link removed] paint - they have a lovely period colour range and they are offering great prices at the moment. The range is called inspired - def. worth getting the colour card.

We got some "period" type Colortrend paint mixed - they have a range of it - can't see it on their website though. Will check can when I go home. Got it in Pat McDonnell paints.

I think Colourtrend do a lovely range of period colours; they are a little expensive but not as bad as Farrow and Ball as far as I know. Stillorgan Decor stock it. Also Crown period colours might suit you. Farrow & Ball have gorgeous paint and paper though; it must be very tempting when you have a period house to decorate. Lucky you!
