hi there,

Looking at getting health insurance policy in place for family of 4. Two adults agreed 35 & 36 and two young children aged 1 & 3. Don't need any day to day cover & don't mind high excess. Looking for cover in case something serious happens. Galway Clinic closest to us (we live in Sligo). We had cover up until 2014 but let it go due to loss of job. Open to any provider but all else being equal would go with VHI as that's who we were with before.

Hi KMSligo,

Welcome to AAM. The following 3 plans are the cheapest on the market, with full cover for Galway Clinic, from all 3 providers.
Adult Options;
1. Laya Flex 500 Explore; price 791pa; all public, private and some hi-tech hospital covered; private hospital excess 500 per admission
for surgery or a stay. Day case excess 150 per procedure.

2. Irish Life Benefit 1 plan; price 799pa; 35 public hospitals covered(22 public not covered) selected list of private hospitals covered, including
Galway Clinic, private excess 500 per admission or 150 excess per day case procedure.

3. VHI PMI 40 15; price 1099pa; all public, private and some hi-tech hospital covered, private excess 75 per admission or per day case

Another option with Laya, worth considering with a lower 300 excess x 2 max per year for all admissions or 125 excess per day case is called,

Child Options;
VHI are most competitive on price and cover for children, with half price offers on the following 2 plans;
1. One Plan Family; price 148pa; all public,private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private excess 125 per admission or day case.

2. Parents and Kids Excess; price 153pa; all public, private and 3 hi-tech hospitals covered, private excess 75 per admission or day case.

Note; VHI are the only company that allow children to be insured on their own if required. An adult is just named on the policy but just the
children are insured. So if you wish to choose another provider for the adults, the children can still be with VHI.

Regards, Snowyb
