Irish Life Health Family Health Insurance - Other options pls

Our policy is up 31/12/15 & got the following quote from Aviva to retain our current plan


Myself (Age 51) Health Plan 16.1 @ €1177

Daughter 1 (19) Family Value Plan @ €575.60. Has GP Visit Card

Daughter 2 (07) Family Value Plan €233.20

Son 1 (17) Family Value Plan €233.20

Son 2 (15) Family Value Plan €233.20


Total €2452.20

Does Aviva have any cheaper plans available with similar levels of cover or maybe a move to another insurer.

Long time with private health insurance, are there any penalties to moving to another insurer.

Any advice greatly appreciated, gone boggle eyed trying to compare all the different plans.

The following plan with Laya is worth considering for yourself and the 3 children;
1. Simply Connect; price per adult 999pa price per child 239pa
This plan has similar cover to Health Plan 16.1 and better cover than Family Value Plan.
Good day to day cover for everyone.

VHI are best priced for young adult plans for the 19 year old as follows;
1. VHI Plan PMI 12 11; price 342pa; public, private and hi-tech hospital cover included.

Total family price; 999 + 239 + 239 + 239 + 342 = 2058pa.
If you pay monthly or quarterly with Laya, a 3% charge applies, so total family price would be 2109approx.


VHI Alternative
VHI have a half price offer which applies from 1 January 2016, it would be worth enquiring if you could avail of this offer price as a concession, since your renewal date is 31 December 2015.

If allowable, the best priced plan for the 3 children is as follows;
1. One + Plan; price per child 131pa; public, private and hi-tech hospital cover included, no day to day cover.

Best option for yourself as follows;
1. VHI Plan PMI 41 15; price 1152pa; same hospital cover as before, good day to day cover as before.

1. VHI Plan PMI 12 11; price 342; public, private and hi-tech hospital cover included.

Total family price; 1152 + 131 + 131 + 131 + 342 =1887pa

There's plenty of savings to be achieved without losing cover and with better cover for the children.
