A family member is in a Carehome for approximately 24mths through the Fairdeal scheme
His Wife is dead and no one is actually living in the family home which is his own name and tied directly to the FD by way of a valued asset..
My Question is
1 Is it possible to sell the house and have the proceeds capped as the value of the property is at the moment.

2.Or can this be only done after 36mths.

3. Or can it be do at all .

From Citizens Advice

Your home will be removed from your financial assessment after you have been in care for 3 years. This does not include the rental income you receive your home. You do not need to do anything.

If you sell your home while you are in care, the net proceeds of sale will also qualify for the 3-year cap. You need to contact your local nursing homes support scheme office if you sell your home.
