What should my friend do?
And find a competent/trustworthy mechanic. Is this a trick question? Stop driving the car.
Brendan
12DxxxxxHow old is the car?
I think he is afraid that X will not take too kindly to being sued.Sue the thief who tried the rip-off stunt with your friend and maybe look to shut him down.
Well yeah, that's what he is now belatedly doing. And find a competent/trustworthy mechanic.
Very interesting. Could this be a completely new fault, not spotted in the original NCT?The new brake fluid leak could be unrelated to the corroded brake pipe. It could be from a rubber seal. Before attacking the garage they should get another mechanic to do a full assessment.
He's done that. Any further suggestions? Is this a trick question? Stop driving the car.

Yes it could have only started leaking on the day of the test. Faults can occur at any time. For instance you could get your headlights realigned on the morning of your test.Very interesting. Could this be a completely new fault, not spotted in the original NCT?
You can't get fooled again?“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…”
Dear god……You can't get fooled again?
George Bush's "Fool Me Once" Gaffe
George W. Bush botches a classic aphorism, saying, "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me onc...www.youtube.com
I don't think my friend is thinking along those lines. The car developed a dangerous condition not safe to drive under the watch of X who assured him it was going to pass the NCT. He drove it about 20 kms on the M50 before he went to the NCT.Just go to a different mechanic, I wouldn’t bother pursuing the duff mechanic as it won’t be the first time they did a half assed job , NCT failure is often not something particularly expensive, people fail all the time
