We added an 1100sq ft (interior space) two story extension this year and we're very unhappy with the external plastering finish/visual appearance. I won't go into all the ins and outs of it as its a long and boring story.

I've been told it will have to be hacked off, scaffolding back up and re-done, but I can't get a price out of builder or what percentage he expects us to pay for. My problem is that the exterior plastering cost was not itemised in the contract.

Could someone give a rough guide of cost for this? In Co. Cork

Guesstimate = 2000-2500 labour only.

Is it a sand cement finish ,if it is you can prime it and coat on a acrylic coloured finish nice job and no need to hack it off or paint.

Hi Kevin

the finish isn't smooth (deliberately) so the acrylic render isn't an optioni unfortunately.

Thanks to you both for your replies.

If you can go over the old plastering ......... there is a solution. Ronofix is an external adhesive that will allow you to re-render. Just follow the instructions - it's sold in most builders providers.
