Extended Maternity Leave

Hi there,

When one has taken Maternity Leave (i.e. the statutory entitlement + 8 weeks unpaid), is it possible to extend this period if your child has been sick in hospital for quite some time (i.e. greater than 1 month).

Suzie,
there is always the option of parental leave (unpaid) - up to 14 weeks per child under 6 years old.

You might get a couple of extra days through force majeure leave.

A reasonable employer should agree to this as it's in their interest to keep experiences staff happy.
