Due to start a new build next month. We had decided to go with the expanding foam insulation from Isylene.Today one of our tradesman said he would not advise it as there can be moisture transfer from outer leaf to inner leaf.Has anyone had any bad experience with this company?

Hi horatio 1
Your tradesman could be right, or wrong, first off, is it Isylene or Icynene, if it is Icynene then he right, this foam is open cell and is the only one they make, it is the wrong foam to use, but they may be using other foams.

If it is Isylene, then they might be using the right foam. The foam which must be used is Closed Cell, using this foam you will have no moisture issues at all, I hope this helps

It does sound like you are talking about "Icynene" foam--which can be used for insulation but is also used in making cushions or other products. The open cells make it more spongy and pliable.

I agree with your tradesman, it's not a good quality insulator for a home. Go with closed cell foam... Closed cell foam is a vapor retarder and prevents air or moisture transfer.
