In an apartment building, what are the specifications of the back exit from the building, typically at the bottom of a stairway and usually leading out to a car park?
Should this door be an 'emergency fire door', ie. open from inside by use of a bar and have a self closing mechanism?
Should it be wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair?
The door in my apartment building is a single PVC door which can be locked manually from the inside but once you exit it does not self close and must be locked with a key from outside or else it remains unlocked, which obviously has security implications. ..
Any advice?
