Ex-student getting dole

I know this isn't going to be a popular thread, but I've just completed a post-grad course in college and don't start work until September.

I'm finding it very hard to find work for the interim months, is there any way I might be able to get a few quid from the Man before I start work if I continue to have trouble finding work for 3 months?

If you have the necessary PRSI contribution track record and meet the other relevant qualification criteria then you should qualify for Unemployment Benefit. If you don't have the necessary PRSI contributions for UB then you may qualify for means tested Unemployment Assistance. Probably simplest to contact your local welfare office and discuss the matter with them. They will be better placed to tell you what, if anything, you qualify for based on your personal circumstances.
