Hi all, my apologies if this has been discussed previously. I have one etf holding in my portfolio which is a distributing etf. I have receieved a massive dividend of €1.49 :D just 4 weeeks ago. This pays out dividends quarterly.

Does anyone know should I report this to revenue, or just keep a record of any dividends paid when I dispose of this etf in the future or at 8 years deemed disposal?

Thanks.

If it is a European UCITs ETF

Then you need to report the purchase on your self assessment tax return the year following the purchase.
You need to declare the dividend received and pay tax on it at 41%
Calculate a notional tax liability yourself on the 8th anniversary and pay over any tax due even if you don’t sell the holdings and again 8 years further on.

Or you could get rid of it as simply not worth the effort

Thanks Marc, yes this etf is domiciled in Ireland. I just want to keep on the striaght and narrow with revenue.
