ESB -change into tennents name?

Am about to lease out rental property for the second time.
The last time I left the ESB in my name and tennant fell into arrears - but paid up no problem in the end....however I feel I could have been in a bit of bother if I had a less desireable tennent.

Is it a better idea to change ESB into tennents name?

yes, yes and yes. Leave the tenants pay all the bills directly to suppliers, i.e. it is not your responsablity if they dont pay.
You may not be so lucky second time around.
 
Agree with Bacchus - go to the property as they're moving in, contact ESB on 1850 372 372 and ask them to transfer the account (have your account no. ready and the meter reading) into the tenant's name. They will ask for the tenant's contact details so that they can confirm that he/she agrees to take over the account. They will then send you a final bill up to the meter reading you gave them.

Simply reverse the process when they leave. Good luck!
