Entitlement to Mortgage Interest Supplement when you have savings

I was made redundant a number of weeks back and received a redundancy package from my ex-Employer of which I have circa 10k remaining in my bank account.

While I am currently seeking new Employment someone mentioned to me that I might be entitled to help with the Interest element of my Mortgage. I have applied for LPA and get maintenance of €120 a week from my ex-partner.

Will my savings disqualify me from Mortgage Interest Supplement, would I be expected to use them to continue making the payments on my mortgage or are you allowed to have some savings, any advice appreciated, thanks.

Savings are means-tested for SWA including Mortgage Interest Supplement.

You will find details of how savings, capital and property (other than your own home) are assessed on this site
