Are engineered internal doors worth paying extra for?
Does anyone know are engineered internal doors worth paying more for as opposed to plain solid wood pine doors? See them here [broken link removed] Builder has recommended them and they claim not to warp etc. Thanks
I was trying to decide the same myself! And there is a significant difference in price.
I have been told that pine/ red deal doors will tend to twist and split at the joints over time.
This is especially the case if the house has underfloor heating (which mine will).
I would be a bit worried about value for money in the engineered doors since they are chipboard/ MDF carcasses with the veneer of oak/ maple/ ash etc. I'm not sure if this veneer is hardwaring though.
I'm thinking of getting doors from Atlantic Homecare. they are €30 each. the ones that are in my house at the moment are the plain ones that are as light as a feather, (you could put your foot through them) that were originally installed in the mid eighties,
Has anyone used these type doors and what do you think
