Does anybody know what this company is like to work for? Any general information would be much appreciated as I don't know anyone who works there.

This very much depends on what your focus is. Are you the career focused type who regularly works long hours and gives up flexibility in order to get ahead, or would you rather be out at 5:30 every evening and enjoy a better work-life balance? It will also very much depend on what area of the bank you intend working in.

In general, banks are heavily unionised and therefore employees are usually well looked after in terms of working hours, conditions and flexibility. It can often depend on your direct boss and how lenient he/she may be. After that it's really a matter of personal opinion.
 
I get the impression that they work you hard, results are expected but for that you will be well remunerated. Depends on position of course, if you are in a client-facing fee generating role you will have to deliver and you'll have to be flexible. If you are in a back-office/support role then 5.30pm finishes could be possible.
 
AFAIK, they are not unionized. What BCPK said is pretty spot on.

I know some people who work there... They seem to have a 'work hard play hard' mentality, and work early but not that late, and not usually on weekends. They also don't have a lot of turnover, but are growing at a fast pace, so there's lots of room to go up, if you're a good worker.
 
The position I would be looking at is a back office role tied in with HR so it is not client facing or fee related.

They do have share schemes in place as far as I know.

Thanks for the info here - very informative. The only thing that I did hear was that they don't have a very high turnover and as the company is growing and growing more roles are being created.

I have a friend who works there. She started there only six months ago and already has had a promotion. It seems excellent in offering courses on whichever area you want to get into, work hard but reap the benefits quickly.

Also, she made me very jealous over Christmas with all the perks/parties, not a criterion for choosing the job but it doesn't hurt either!
