Employer Either Increasing Hours or Redundancy

Hey all,

A bit of a strange one if anybody would know, a lady I was speaking with today had her contract voluntarily cut from a 5-day week to a 2-day week due to the downturn. As a result she gained employment elsewhere for 3 days. Her initial employer now wants to bump her from a 2-day week to a 4-day week, but mentioned that if she refuses, he would have to make her redundant as he now needs someone for 4 days a week.

Is this a valid reason for redundancy? Trawling through the list of valid reasons, would it fall under re-organisation, even though its re-organising up instead of down?

Many thanks for any ideas.
