Anybody had any dealings with a collection agency called Emerald Isle Collections?

A friend of mine received a call out of the blue from them looking to collect what they claim is an outstanding Bord Gais bill for electricity from last year. They have emailed a copy of the bill and it looks genuine but the problem is the person in question claims that they were never with them for electricity - just gas.
I suspect that my friend is just forgetful but the possibility of a mistake - or worse - on the part of others has not been eliminated yet. Just wondering if anybody else has had experience in this context? I've advised my friend to contact BG to establish the veracity of the alleged bill before doing anything else.
