Electrican Work Quote. Advise

Hi

Have a mate who is an electrician. Dont know much about sparks prices but just checking to see what people think. Is it a good price

€1500 for below

Bathroom
Fit electric shower and wire to fuse board (showere already provided)
Supply and fit bathroom extractor fan
Fit power supply/switch for shower
Supply and fit 3 new bathroom downlights and switch

Kitchen
Fit power supply for Oven, Extractor Fan and Gas Boiler
Fit Thermostat for gas boiler
Supply and fit 3 new double sockets
Re location of existing double socket
Supply and fit of 2 fluorescent under counter lights
Suppply and fit of 4 kitchen down lights

Other
Supply/Fit/replacement of approximately 10 Old Sockets areound the house including chasing into walls

Chase Earth wire for fuse box into wall

Supply and fit new light into hallway

Supply and fit ceiling light into new downstairs storage area.


A lot of the messy work is already done as it is a renovation site at present. Floorboards/skirting is up already and easy access to most areas.

Just wondering ballpark figure is it a good price?

It's probably three days work taking a proper lunch break, arriving at 9.30 leaving at sundown.

Take out the supply element which might add up to 500 and it's a good quote then.
 
Ask him how long he thinks it will take and work out what he is charging per hour from that. If its more than 50 per hour then its steep enough.
 
He may not be chasing the walls himself, I know we got a guy in to do ours and it cost approx Eur 60.00 per chase, my brother in law was the electrician so we got the electrical work done cheaply on condition he didn't have to do the chasing.

€50 per hour is not steep for a competent, accredited tradesman. You can pay a multiple of that to get a mechanic to service your car.
 
Depend if its a cash or not, if its cash then its steep and if its legit then its good price.
 
When he is finished tell I have a few jobs for him to do.Im an electrician and looking at what must be done i think your getting a very good price there

My own experience is that tradesmen tend to exaggerate the length of time it takes. Also paddy tradesmen that I encountered for my renovation struggled to arrive by 9 am, took plenty of breaks and left about 4 pm - on a good day. Oh, and it was always cash - never seemed to have access to invoice and promised to send it on later - which never happened.

So, divide time stated by 2 and assume it's cash.
