Hi all,

I'm about to wire a house and i'm wondering if anyone could recommend an electrical wholesaler up North? I'm keen to take advantage of the current Sterling rates to reduce my costs a bit.

I'm based in Dublin so it would be a great help if they delivered too.

Thanks in advance.

there was some lad in newry mentioned in a thread a few weeks back who delivered to dublin and was a lot cheaper than dublin, cant remember his name tho...

Meteor Electrical , if you ring in before lunch you normally have delivery the following day . ( & that is to Cork)

I dont know what all the rush to buy up the north is. I, only today, bought a lot of electrical fittings in EUROSALES in Ringsend and i dont think that you would have saved a lot by buying up the north.I have no connection with eurosales by the way.As a P.S. though have a look at tonights 9 o clock news to see the reason given by Superquinn for cutting 400 jobs 67 in DUNDALK WE ALL HAVE TO DO OUR BIT......

So we have to pay over-inflated prices with our hard earned money to keep other people in their jobs? I'd rather save a few bob for myself thanks.
Might sound harsh, but I'm gonna do what's best for me and my family.

I agree - I think Jeffrey Donaldson hit it on the head when asked about southerners coming in and his view on the irish governments criticism of same when he essentially said that it was seemingly ok for people down south to crow about the need for joint co operation when it came to government etc but it seemingly wasnt ok for them to spend thier cash up north !!

I dont think Ive ever agreed with the man before but he does have a point!

Let the gov & retailers start charging me a fair price and I will continue to shop down south, but I wont be made a monkey of!!

What we do now will have an effect on all our families in the longer term.........it must be great to have job security. In the long run large unemployment rates effects us all, as those in employment will pay the bills.Maybe Mr Donaldson will bail us out! i dont think....

Unfortunately half the reason the retailers down south are charging so much more is because the same government who are now crowing on about patriotism were the folk who gave so many tax breaks and incentives to the building industry which drove up prices of property and thus commercial rents...also of course raises of the minimum wage and the huge electrical costs (ESB and energy regulator take a bow) in the republic make business down south a lot more expensive. In an ideal world we’d all only ever buy Irish goods....

Superquinn Dundalk was going due to close for the past 12 months because of local competition.
The cross border sales didnt help them but ut was bound to close anyway

Folks, could we bring this one back on topic? Feel free to discuss the implications of cross-border shopping elsewhere.

Hi,

There are many wholesale electrical suppliers around who offer dropdown prices and even lower than bulk purchase prices. They are selling electrical equipments at affordable prices. Of course, when buying them, you might as well want to check the items or the supplies if they are in good condition and if warranty seals are still intact. Some of these suppliers have their websites to easily obtain their catalogues for new models and brands of their current stocks.
