The socket is for the switch for central heating/hot water. We got great advice here for connecting up the additional phone sockets, so I'm hoping this will be just as easy! Cheers, Stuart.

L liteweight Registered User Messages 1,678 5 Nov 2006 #2 Can't give you an answer but I know my hot press has an isolated trip switch, so the fact that all other sockets are working doesn't mean there isn't a problem within the hotpress itself, if you know what I mean.

E extopia Registered User Messages 3,153 5 Nov 2006 #3 Is it a socket or a switch? Don't think I've ever seen a socket in a hot press but maybe I'm out of touch. Some switch boxes contain a fuse, which can be accessed from the front of the box. If this is the case, perhaps it needs replacement?

It's a socket with a switch but no front-accessible fuse. Perhaps it was never connected up to the fuse box or something. Time to call a sparky.
