the door switch is on a lighting circuit and should be backed up with a 6-10 amp mcb. normal sockets ie 13 amp sockets should be backed up with 16-20 amp mcb's. you would have run a 2.5 sq cable to switch and use a 20 amp double pole switch to switch 13 amp socket. it would be easier to wire 5 amps now than try and wire a 13 amp switched from the door. hope this helps
That is what I did. Went and hired the chasing gear this afternoon and got the electrician's side-kick to do it. All done now.

While I'm on it.........any views on the different brands of CAT 5 switch boxes and where to source them in Dublin? I want to be able to move things around at the CAT box, so I'd like the box to be as flexible as possible.
