Hi all,

Could anyone recommend somewhere to buy modern (ie more compact) storage and panel heaters. The existing heaters in the money pit are old and clumpy and need to be replaced.

Unfortunately electric heating is only option as gas and oil are not viable.

I am situated in Dublin.

Thanks in advance

Any electrical wholesaler will get you either Dimplex or Creda slimline storage and panel heaters.

You will need to get them assembled and connected and the old ones removed.. Storage heaters are not covered under the WEEE directive so the supplier won't take them away.

You would be better off getting an electrical contractor to supply and install them.

If you own / are a long term occupant of the house and you are in a position to consider a capital spend to reduce ongoing running costs then you might consider an 'air - to air' heat pump such as

The smallest unit produces over 4kW of heat for every 1kW of electricity that it consumes. This efficiency does drop as the outside temperature decreases but I think at -5C it still produces around 2.5kW for every kW of electricity consumed.

Also, it can be used for cooling in the event of a hot summer ( some hope )

Mitsubishi and others produce similar products

thank you for your advice, i won't be in the property long term and cannot afford a significant cost so i think it will be the replacements.

Hoagy, could you pm me any recommendations for electrical contractors, am a complete newby!

thanks
