eircom increased prices after contract signed

I'll just have to do the annual shopping around thing that I hate.
I think we are all in the same boat where household utilities are concerned. Long gone are the days of customer loyalty being rewarded. In fact it's now the reverse, loyalty is penalised and disloyalty is both encouraged and rewarded. I've come full circle on this and rather than engaging in negotiations, I pounce the moment the contract is up and take the first offer as their best and enjoy refusing it and moving on immediately a better offer is available.

Nope , I joined in Jan with the cpi increase contract but got a email this week moving me to the fixed increase contract with option to cancel if I don't want it
Very interesting. As said above I have received no e-mail, but would love to as I could then renegotiate with 10 months left on my 2 year contract.

Maybe it's the case that the contract that you are currently on uses the CPI based price increase and you are not yet signed up to one that uses the fixed price increase? What do the terms and conditions of the contract that you are currently on say about how price increases are applied?
The current contract quotes cpi plus 3%, it's 24 months from last September so looks like moving to fixed price increase change will give opp to cancel, just checked mail and it advises I can can cancel pre a date next month. Will see what they say but there won't be a similar contract break chance next time if mid contract once signed up to this EUR6 annual increase!

What do you mean by this?
Re the sim only mobile plan moving from 10EUR to 12.50EUR, as that is only a 30 day contract, it can be negotiated more frequently and separate to the broadband contract albeit you only get the 10EUR deal if you have broadband with them. Anyway looking forward to hear about the rationale for the 25% sim only price increase!!!

Spoke to someone in EIR shop this morning on this topic and they said you can cancel but you will have to pay the cancellation charge previously agreed and this wasn't an opportunity to cancel on any other basis.

I’ve received the e mail about price going up too. I had signed a 2 year contract. I really find it difficult to fathom agreeing a price for 2 years and yet it can be changed by them. I intend ringing them and then I’ll decide what to do.

It's been standard for some time to include language for in-term increases in their contracts. What does the contract you signed up to state?
