I think we are all in the same boat where household utilities are concerned. Long gone are the days of customer loyalty being rewarded. In fact it's now the reverse, loyalty is penalised and disloyalty is both encouraged and rewarded. I've come full circle on this and rather than engaging in negotiations, I pounce the moment the contract is up and take the first offer as their best and enjoy refusing it and moving on immediately a better offer is available.I'll just have to do the annual shopping around thing that I hate.
