eircom FLM (front line manager)

a close friend is being bullied at work by their eircom boss.the eircom f l m is given targets and receives his credit by praise and money depending on how hard he can push the staff under him.the same union represents both f l m and workers.it is hard to prove the bullying as its more physological.i have told him to log all contact he has with his boss in case he requires any such proof of same.by the sound of it these f l m guys are being trained to push their staff.as a lot of this grade are behaving like this.is there any eircom techs out there with similar problems.

How is your friend being pushed to meet targets?
Has there been any verbal threats made to him?
Has he been made to feel incompetent at his job?

apparently one of his problems is he sometimes gets a job,a work request,to help or assist another field tech .he has been told that these jobs do not count even though they could last from one hour duration to several.he says his boss,s figures for productivity do not count these jobs,only for jobs completed on one,s own.he is involved in repair work.he says it involves up to 5km of cables,underground and overhead cable ,and in premises faults.without the access to any mapping data,

everyone in eircom has been sent letters by the ceo advising to take voluntary leaving,the pressure is on.

Your friend should email the manager, outlining what he was asked to do, and ask for confirmation of what sort of credits he will get for the task. Make sure to cc the union rep and hr.

I worked in a callcentre before where I was taken off calls for an hour to help with a task. At the end of the day they didn't take account of this in my stats and gave out to me for my "after call" time being up 60 seconds. (ie the hour divided by 60 calls). That was vodafone.. moronic team leaders.
