, take n2 to ashbourne /derry then what major towns to go throught to get to Derry city thanks
 
Take M1 to Ardee.
Carrickmacross - Castleblaney - Monaghan - Omagh - Strabane - Derry

I agree.. and be aware that most of the above are bypassed, or 'bypassable' in the case on Monaghan.
 
Thanks all it was to find easiest way for the wife she got there in 4/12 hours and same coming back dont ask, so thanks
 
Used to regularly do Dublin to Letterkenny and from what I seem to remember it used to take 2,5 - 3 hours.

I was young and foolish then though and rarely drove from Aughnacloy to Strabane at less than 100 mph (being of the very much mistaken idea that the RUC couldn't touch me except for a fine if I was on Irish plates).

4 and a half hours to Derry for an unhurried lady seems reasonable to me!
