i am thinking of buying a house in drimnagh, in the estste next to the castle, has anyone any comments(good or bad) on the area regarding trainsport, shops, schools etc.

Drimnagh and Crumlin are very close and in fact intersect depending on your perspective so have a read here for some background. It has its good and bad areas like everywhere.

I was born and reared in Crumlin and as you say Drimnagh is very close, when I was young Drimnagh was also known as North Crumlin.
The Raphoe road - Old county- Iveagh gardens - Crumlin road - Raleigh square (was'nt that where years later the general had his snooker hall ? ) were the purchased houses (as we used to call them)
That was before the corporation sold their houses.
Althoug I no longer live in Dublin I have wonderful fond memories of Crumlin, it was a great place to grow up in.
