I've a large area to the side of my house (~100m2) which is made up ground (material excavated from house footings).......this material is varly poor, has a high clay content and is quite imperable. The topsoil ontop isn't much better.........anyway the top of this area is flat and runs to embankemnt side slopes to one side.
As I said drainage is a problem and a series of landdrains, i believe will not work due to the soil makeup. What I was thinking of doing was pulling the topsoil back, then placing a layer of stone (2"clean), sloping towards embankment edge, covering with geotextile and then topping back over with as dug topsoil???? Not sure if this would then cause too much drying out of the topsoil.............what do people think??
