Dog has taken to using under the washing line as her toilet, how to stop her.

Up until recently our dog had stuck to doing her poo in one area of the garden.

The last couple of weeks she has taken to doing it under or around the washing line ( we have a triangle rotary line) It doesn't make a difference if there is washing there or not

We clean up each day, cut the grass weekly so can see no reason for her to suddenly change. There is no evidence of any other animals coming into the garden ( she is good at keeping cats, rats and mice at bay)

I have put down some GetOff and used the dog deterrant spray but none work. I just went out to hang some washing to be greeted by 2 of her large gifts!

I have heard Jeyes works but the smell is so strong I would be reluctant to put it down near the line.

Has anyone any other suggestions.

Stick her nose in it? Seems to be the age-old solution.

chilli powder - lots of it - put round the washing line. refresh after rain. usually works.pushing her nose very close does help but takes longer. slightly prickly ground cover deters effectively.

the 'doings' are good fertiliser!

I thought about rubbing her nose near it but she is a big dog and I probably wouldn't be able to get her near it. I would also be worried she would think doing the poo itself was the problem.

Will try the chilli trick.(after I have faced the clean up!)

I got a solution from the Garden Centre that you paint on the area you want the dog to avoid, it worked very well. Browtal
