Do Social Welfare check company house records?

Hi There,

I have unfortunately had to apply for jobseekers payment this week and I am unable to find any work and need to keep my head above water while I continue to look. My question is, I sit as a director of two companies, I do not recieve any payment for this and I am not a shareholder, i am merely a director in name and have no working connection with the company. I am a director as a favour to a friend who was starting a business and needed a second director to be able to incorporate the company.

My question is, do the social welfare check company records? Will they see this directorship or will it cause me any problems? I didnt mention it when applying as I thought it would needlessly cause problems.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Stevie

if your genuinely not receiving any payment or BIK then it wont effect your claim........but

If the form doesn't ask about directorships then I guess you haven't done anything wrong, but wouldn't it be easier to just be honest? You say you are not receiving any income so there shouldn't be a problem? Might also be the time to resign your directorships if they are of no benefit to you and only a hinderence.
