I am 63 years of age and unemployed / retired.

I have been recently widowed.
This has clearly brought about a change in my circumstances. I continue to receive half my husband’s pension.
I have a medical card.

I have savings of around 200k euro.
My question is what allowances am I entitled to? Do I need to declare my savings we had obviously built them up from my taxed incomes?

Here is link for the guideline from the HSE regarding medical card. It should answer your question.

Thank you for the link.
I have read it but I cant say I am any the wiser?
Is there plain English anywhere?

Your savings and late husbands pension will be taken into account when doing a means test for medical card or GP visit card. Based on those figures it would appear you would not be eligible
