DIY Screw stuck

I put a desk together from IKEA and as I got to the final step, putting the drawer in, I stupidly put the screw in from the outside instead of in the inside of the drawer stopping it from sliding smoothly.

No problem I thought I'd just unscrew them and put them in the correct way, I unscrewed one side fine but the other side the screw won't come out I think maybe the threads are gone. I'm probably not explaining it very well but the screw first goes into the metal bracket and then into the drawer instead of the other way around. The screw is now stuck any ideas on how I could get it out?

Can you leave it alone and get a hacksaw in to cut off the excess threads?

Unfortunately not the top of the screw is on the outside stopping the drawer from sliding easily, it will close but I need to give it a shove!

Im always making mistakes with self assembly furniture - try any of the following:

Hacksaw off the protruding bits.
Use a pliers to unscrew it back out if you can get a grip on the top of it.
Go to the other side of it and try to screw another screw in so that it forces the stuck one out backwards.
Superglue an old screwdriver to the head of it and try to unscrew it that way.

A pliers is really your best bet if you can get a grip with it.

Oh - if the head of it is only protruding a tiny bit you could try to hammer it right in so you can open and close the drawer more easily?

Thanks truthseeker I'll try those options, fingers crossed one will work

Drill the head of the screw and you should then be able to break off enough of the protruding part so the drawer will slide. Do only as a last resort - try truthseekers ways first.

If you can get access to a vice grip and of course can get a grip onto the head of the screw then that would be the easiest way to remove it.

If you have a nail pinch bar and again can get access to the head that might be the way to do it.
