Go and talk to local auctioneers ( obviously not the one who has it for sale!), ask them if there would be a demand for this type of property when renovated, particularly in the current climate. Worst case is you buy, put money into renovating and then can't sell at all or at a profit ( or make a loss). So you'd really want to do your homework before attempting this.
