looking for advice in relation to a hedge to divide the lawn area from a garden area which contains raised beds, and will contain a smally pollytunnel at some stage. The area is sloped with the vegetable area at the bottom of the slope. It's get the sun all day so ideally I am looking for a low growing hedge, no more than 2ft high or maybe less just to seperate it from the lawn and so as to avoid throwing shadows over the area. There is approximately 40/50m of an area to hedge. The soil while relatively good in some spots is also quite bad for about 10m and will need to be dug out. It is well drained but suspectible to wind which hopefully will disapate when my black and whitethorn hedge around the site grows a bit more. Any advice would be appreciated.
The box hedging is a good one alright. It's evergreen too, which helps reduce exposure in winter. Bear in mind that the areas immediately around it will be quite dry as it soaks up water.
