Hi

I am in a Share scheme at work and each year there is a dividend payment, I got my first this year. There is an element of withholding tax and we owe the balance if we pay tax at 42%. My question is, do I just send a cheque to the revenue or do I need to complete a return. The amount involved totals €30, so am not keen to involve myself in alot of paperwork for this. I am PAYE only.

Thanks

Officially, you will need to fill out a tax return and send cheque with it.

For €30 I wouldn't bother.

Why not use the opportunity to claim some tax reliefs, such as medical expenses, bin charges etc....you may end up getting money back from revenue
