Disclaiming your share of a will - how late can you do it?

I am a beneficiary of my aunt's will and I am considering disclaiming my share for personal and tax reasons. There are two other beneficiaries who would in effect receive my share - via the residue.

I was just wondering how late in the process you can disclaim your share of a will in Ireland. Probate has not yet been granted but the inland revenue affidavit is due to be submitted shortly.

Must I disclaim before probate is granted/the affidavit goes in or can i do it afterwards before the estate is distributed?

IANAL

I would think that until grant of probate, the will is only a statement of intent; if you see what I mean.

You can't be certain until then that you are a beneficiary, nor what your inheritance might be.

In any event, if you intend to renounce, I don't think it makes a huge difference when you do it; just so long as you let the executor know before they start distribution.
