I am wondering if i have enough prsi credits paid to collect disability benefit, I have only 16 weeks PRSI paid in 2006 but have full years for 2007 and 2008. Looking at the citizens advice website it says i need to have
To get Illness Benefit you must have:
  • At least 104 weeks PRSI paid since you first started work
And
  • Have 39 weeks PRSI paid or credited in the relevant tax year (a minimum of 13 weeks must be paid contributions*)
Or
  • Have 26 weeks PRSI paid in the relevant tax year and 26 weeks PRSI paid in the tax year immediately before the relevant tax year.
The relevant tax year would appear to be 2007........Can anyone tell me?..

The relevant tax year for 2009 is indeed 2007, so if you have 104 paid contributions since you started work along with your full 2007 year's contributions, you should qualify.

Are you sure that is accurate? As far as I am aware the 2007 contributions would be taken into account in meeting the 104 compulsory contributions.

Yes, but also for the governing contirbution year so 2007 is needed to fulfil both conditions.

I wouldn't have 104 along with the year 07 - I would have 52 weeks for 07 - 52 weeks for 08 and 16 weeks for 06?

To clarify:

Ist Condition: (104 paid): 2007 (52) plus 2008 (52) so OK on that
2nd Condition: 2007= 52 so ok on that too. (so 2007 IS needed along with the 104 paid!)
