Disability and reducing work hours

Hi, I've been suffering for over a year with what was thought to be arthritis-turns out to be fibromyalgia. have to take 6 weeks off this year so far but was determined to go back to work as a chef. I'm finding it unbearably hard esp coping with the exhaustion and pain. Work is stressful and physically hard.
What are my options? Can I reduce my hours?, go on short week and claim something for other days. I cannot afford not to work
I would be grateful if anyone could help thanks.

You are legally entitled under the Employment Equality Acts to a 'reasonable accomodation' from your employer to accommodate your disability. I have heard of cases in other industries and sectors where shorter hours were offered to people to accomodate a disability.

Check out www.equality.ie for more information and www.equalitytribunal.ie for case histories.
