Is signing off Disability Allowance any different from signing off other type of social welfare payment, did anyone ever do it, is it a difficult process, does anyone know?

Don't know about the signing off process, but I know some people can be reluctant to make the decision to sign-off and take up a job, out of fear of not requalifying for the DA later, if the job doesn't work out for them, for whatever reason. There are also questions about access to medical card and other benefits.

You have to notify the dept in writing on any change of circumstances. My daughter did recently when she got a part time job for the summer. They reduced the disability allowance by €x per week. Once the temporary job was over she let the dept know of her change in circumstance and I assume will revert to the full disability allowance again. If you phone their help line it is all made very clear.
