DIRT tax refund?

Would I be eligible for a refund of the DIRT tax I have paid from various fixed term deposit accounts over the last year or two. It was paid directly from the various banks to the Revenue, but as I have not worked or claimed JSB in that time, solely "living off" my savings, I wonder if I could claim back any of it?

In addition to being 65 years of age or older, Your earnings also need to be below the exemption limits.

i.e. a 66 year old person is not entitled to a refund of DIRT if their earnings exceed €18,000 per year (single) or €36,000 (married).
